Yes, Symprove is appropriate for taking with the low FODMAP diet.
Yes. Antibiotics can be an effective tool for treating infection but they are a double-edged sword as they can destroy the bacteria in the gut microbiome. The guidance is that Symprove and antibiotics can be taken concurrently but they should be dosed as far apart as possible.
Yes - Symprove is made with natural ingredients and doesn’t contain anything that is contraindicated in pregnancy or women who are breastfeeding.
It is not suitable for use with very young children (under 3 years of age).
Symprove has a robust safety profile, and is formulated for adults and children over 3 years old. Children 3+ should take a daily dose of 1ml per kg of body weight (instead of the 70ml adult dose)
Symprove has been researched in patients taking immunosuppressants as part of their management for other conditions and no serious adverse effects were seen. However, we advise caution in those patients who are severely immunocompromised and it is at the discretion of the healthcare professionals as to whether Symprove is appropriate based on the specific patient case.
The vast majority of people don’t experience side-effects.
In a minority of cases, patients may see slight changes in their bowel habit (either constipation or diarrhoea). This is mild and typically self-resolves within a couple of days.
